Hurricane Melissa Relief

On October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica, causing severe damage across six parishes and affecting over 170 communities. Homes and businesses were destroyed by the 185 mph winds and widespread flooding. The Western part of the island’s infrastructure was damaged, leaving thousands of families without food, water, or shelter.
Within the rural community of Parottee in Black River, St. Elizabeth, the impact was severe - crops were lost, roads cut off, and operations at local schools and the food pantry were disrupted.

Jamaica, especially St. Elizabeth has always felt like a home away from home for my family and me. I have also spent years capturing images of Jamaica and its people and felt compelled to do my part to help the people of Black River recover.

I will be donating 100% of the proceeds from the sale of Black River, Jamaica, 2017 and Accompong, Jamaica, 2009 to the Parottee Enrichment Project (PEP), a local boots-on-the-ground NGO run by people we know. The Parottee Enrichment Project mobilized immediately to launch their Hurricane Melissa Relief & Recovery Program. Here’s what is being done:

Emergency Food & Water Distribution: Providing essential supplies to displaced families in Parottee, Black River and surrounding areas.

Shelter & Temporary Housing Support: Distributing tarpaulins, plastic sheeting, bedding, and solar lights to households whose homes were damaged.
Healthcare Outreach: Partnering with Black River Hospital and mobile clinics to provide first‑aid kits, hygiene kits and health screenings in relief zones.

School Recovery & Education Continuity: Ensuring their two sponsored primary schools reopen safely, with supplies and infrastructure repairs.

Long‑Term Rebuilding: Planning the construction of a community clinic in Hill Top, Parottee, to serve ongoing health needs.
